The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to assist the yacht “ Serin “ with 3 persons onboard, aground in the Walton Backwaters. All attempts to re-float the yacht failed. The decision was made that the crew would stay onboard to await the afternoon flood tide.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched again to return to the “Serin “ as she was in the process of re-floating and still requiring assistance. At 15.00 she was re-floated, checked for any damage and continued her journey into Titchmarsh marina.

The All Weather Lifeboat was launched at the request of Thames Coastguard to proceed 31 miles East of Harwich where a possible body had been reported by a passing survey vessel. The lifeboat was meet by the Essex Marina Police unit who recovered the body from the water and proceeded into Harwich harbour.

Both lifeboats while on exercise on Tuesday Evening were diverted to the “ Orwell Bridge “ where a person had been seen earlier on the bridge parapet. On arrival the person had now disappeared assumed to have jumped. Lifeboats and rescue helicopter carried out a search of the river, but nothing was found

The All Weather Lifeboat was called to the Training yacht “ Strata 6 “. The yacht with 2 persons onboard was now adrift with engine failure and unable to sail clear off departing / entering container ships due to light winds. The Harwich Vessel trafficking service requested an immediate launched to recover and bring the yacht to safety. She was taken in tow to Levington Marina.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to a man overboard from the Ferry “ Dana Serina “ alongside the Quay at Parkston. The Danish man in his thirties fell overboard as the party of 90 fellow travellers were about to disembark. He was recovered from the water by the workboat “ Maggie M “. He was transferred to the lifeboat station by lifeboat where he was medically examined by local paramedics.

The Inshore Lifeboat was called out after a report of a container lorry entering the water from the stern of the MV “Estraden“ docked and unloading at the navyard Harwich. On arrival it was established that the docks masifi and two containers had toppled in to the sea whilst loading. No personnel were involved or injured.

The Harwich RNLI Inshore Lifeboat was launched to assist local police units at the Orwell Bridge in the search for a possible suicide attempt. Lifeboat, coastguard and a rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham carried out a search of the river. The search was call off at with nothing being found.

The Inshore Lifeboat was called out to assist the 17ft angling boat “ Kingfisher “ just outside the Levington Marina. The boat with 1 person onboard had encountered engine problems on entering the marina but managed to pick up a nearby mooring. He was taken in tow and berthed inside the marina.

The All Weather Lifeboats was launched to a broken down RIB with three persons onboard approximately 9.5 miles East of Land guard. The rib called “Venture “was taken in tow to the mouth of the river and handed over to the Harbourmaster launch for onwards transit into Woodbridge.

The Inshore Lifeboat launched to person in the water at Waldringfield (River Deben). Rescue 125 recovered person from the water and the ILB checked on the well being of second casualty. Second casualty had made it ashore and apart from cold was safe and well. The ILB was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat went to the aid of the 23ft speedboat “ Melvin 3 “ on the river Orwell on Saturday evening. The boat with 3 children and 2 adults onboard encountered engine problems just south of the Orwell Bridge. She was taken in tow to the Suffolk yacht harbour.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to the Walton Backwaters (Kirby Creek) area, where the 29ft yacht “Little Rascal “had reported fouling her own propellers with her anchor chain. The lifeboat crew were unable to free the anchor chain at this time so she was taken in tow to Titchmarsh marina where repairs could be made the next day. No injuries had been sustained by the 3 man crew.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to the 6mt yacht Tinker Tess with 2 persons onboard, aground at the entrance to Shotley Marina. The boat was pulled clear of the sand bank, checked over by the lifeboat crew and allowed to continue her journey up the river Orwell.

The All Weather Lifeboat was launched to the Long Sand Head, approximately 32 miles South East of Harwich to assist the 29ft yacht “Black Magic”. The vessel with four persons onboard has expressed their concerns navigating the approaches to Harwich harbour with limited fuel. She was taken in tow to Shotley marina arriving at 03.00am.

The All Weather Lifeboat was called out to assist the 29ft sailing yacht “ Baleeka “ with engine failure 12 miles East of Harwich. The yacht drifting in the North West Shipwash with two persons onboard was taken in tow to the safety of Shotley Marina.

The inshore lifeboat was called out to rescue 4 youths trapped on a dinghy. The incident occurred between Mistley and Bradfield on Wednesday night, two of the youths returned to the South shore unaided and the lifeboat located the second two in the dinghy on the mud flats. They were taken to the lifeboat station where they were later collected. No injuries were reported.

The inshore lifeboat was called after Suffolk Police took several calls from people who had spotted a woman wandering along the water’s edge under the bridge. Officers were joined by firefighters, paramedics and the coastguard at the scene. Police said the woman entered the water when emergency services arrived and was thrown a life aid by rescuers. The woman, aged around 35, was pulled safely from the water and taken to Ipswich Hospital for checks. Bridge Street was partially blocked southbound for around half an hour as the incident unfolded.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to assist local police units on the Orwell Bridge, Ipswich. The lifeboat was stood down as the person in a distressed state was now in police custody.

The Inshore Lifeboat was called out to search for an overdue yachtsman in the river Deben. After mooring his yacht, the yachts tender boat broke free and drifted up river. The yachtsman inflated a small rubber dinghy and headed off up river after his boat. At low tide both boats ended up ashore in the mud. He was eventually assisted to the lifeboat by the coastguard mud rescue team. All boats and yachtsman were eventually reunited back to the yacht by lifeboat.

Both lifeboats were launched on Sunday at the request of Thames Coastguard to assist Suffolk Police Constabulary with an on going incident on the Orwell Bridge, River Orwell. On arrival the inshore lifeboat recovered a body from the base. The body was taken to the pontoons at The Suffolk Yacht Harbour.

The ilb transferred the portable salvage pump onboard and started to clear the ingress water. The boat was pulled clear of the banks and left to make its own way up river

Harwich Inshore Lifeboat whilst on public relations duties in the Felixstowe area (Guard Bank) was requested to assist an up-turned jet skier in difficulties. The skier was recovered into the lifeboat and both landed back to shore.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to assist the yacht “Saeros “which had run aground on the Guard Bank. On arrival an independent rescue patrol craft had passed a line to the yacht ready to pull him clear. A crewman from the lifeboat was transferred onboard to check for any damage sustained. Whilst in the process of this the lifeboat was diverted by Thames Coastguard to a second yacht in difficulties in the Walton Backwaters.

The Harwich Inshore Lifeboat was launched to assist two children cut off by the tide at Earlham’s beach, Dovercourt Bay. On arrival the two were found safe but a little shaken from their ordeal. They were recovered from the beach and taken to the lifeboat station, medically checked and subsequently picked up by their parents’.

A 72 yr old man with chest and abdominal pains made a call to his partner this afternoon asking for help, un-aware of his position suffering from several chest and abdominal pains. The Harwich All Weather Lifeboat launched locating the 25ft yacht “Pelican” just of the Orwell buoy at anchor. On arrival the lone yachtsman was outstretched on the vessel clearly in a distressed manner. Members of the crew boarded the boat and administrated fist aid as the boat was made ready to be towed into Leavington Marina. On arrival his was transferred to an awaiting ambulance and taken to Heath Road Hospital

A major search involving police, coastguards and the Harwich Inshore Lifeboat was launched after clothing and personnel items where found on the beach in Dovercourt bay. A search of the coastline was carried out by lifeboat with nothing being found. It was later established that the missing women was now in custody at Harwich police Station.

The Harwich All Weather Lifeboat was called out to assist the 32 ft yacht “ Windharp “ with 3 persons onboard taking on water just off Trinity 6 berth, Felixstowe. Member of the crew transferred aboard the yacht to ascertain any damage and cause of water ingress. It was decided to take her in tow straight to Shotley Marina where repairs could be made.

The Harwich All Weather Lifeboat was launched to assist Thames Coastguard in locating a vessel permanently transmitting on the emergency marine band radio in the area of the river Deben. The lifeboat fitted with directional finding equipment would be able to pick up the signal and locate the offending vessel.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to the area of the Walton Backwaters to search for two missing persons in a small dinghy. On arrival the two were found in Dardenells Creek on the mud flats. Owing to their position the lifeboat was unable to reach them so a coastguard mud rescue team was called to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched in response to an alarm activation in the area of the Walton Backwaters. The original report suggested that it could be two canoeists seen early in that position. On arrival the two were located but no distress signal had been sent by them. A further search of the inlets discovered serial small yachts but again no assist was needed. The lifeboat returned to station at 17.25. The false signal could once again be a hoax.

The Inshore lifeboat was called out to a report of a person in the water from an inflatable dinghy in the river Deben had been received. On arrival the person had made his own way ashore but due to his condition it was decided that he should be seen by paramedics. After a medical check up the paramedics and causality were taken back across the river to the Felixstowe Ferry and conveyed to hospital.

The Inshore Lifeboat was called out to as report of a person in the water from a capsized dinghy at stone point, Walton Backwaters. On arrival a crewman entered the water to help the owner in the righting of his dinghy. Both were then taken in tow back to the shoreline from where he had set sail. No injuries were sustained.

Both Harwich and Aldeburgh lifeboats were launched along with Rescue Helicopter 125 from RAF Wattisham to a ditched light aircraft which had disappeared off the radar screen approximately 16 miles NE of Harwich. Rescue 125 was the first on scene reporting wreckage in the water and in the process of recovering two persons. The three lifeboats recovered parts of the aircraft as the casualties were flow in to Heath Road hospital, Ipswich.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to proceed to the New Cut, River Orwell where two persons had reported they were about to abandon they yacht as it was in danger of capsizing. On arrival the yachts crew had already be transferred on to the Orwell Navigation service launch and taken ashore uninjured. The yacht at a 35 degree angle was left under the harbourmasters control.

The Inshore Lifeboat was launched at 21.00 to find and assist the 30ft yacht “Powder Monkey “believed to be at the entrance to the river Deben with no navigational lights or operational VHF radio. The vessel with two persons onboard was eventually found and taken in tow to the lifeboat pontoons, Harwich.
