One person fell over board from a small fishing boat off Shotley, the person was picked up by a local pilot boat and transferred to the ILB. The ILB crew treated the man for hyperthermia and shock, landed him ashore at the lifeboat station. Waiting lifeboat crew assisted paramedics to prepare the man to be air lifted to Colchester hospital.

ILB called to a reported of a possible suicide at the Orwell Bridge, searched the area and nothing found. Report put down to phone call with good intent, ILB stood down and returned to station.

Both Harwich Lifeboats were launched to 5 canoeists in trouble off the entrance to the River Deben, in severe gale force 8-9 north-westerly winds with rough seas. The inshore lifeboat was the first on the scene and located 2 of the missing 5 persons close to the shore. Both persons were transferred to the ALB which had just arrived on scene. Whilst the ILB continued the search, the ALB rescued 2 more persons from the water. The rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham arrived and was immediately requested to airlift two canoeists from the ALB who were in need of urgent medical attention. The last of the 5 persons had now been located and rescued by the ILB. Subsequently all remaining persons were brought to Harwich Lifeboat Station to an awaiting ambulance and medically examined.

The ILB was called to the River Deben to a report of two persons in the water from an overturned rowing boat. Whilst proceeding to the scene the ILB was informed that the persons had been recovered by the local ferry and all persons were safe and well on the beach.

The ILB was called to the River Ore along with Aldeburgh's ILB to the 34 ft yacht “Vagabond “ with two persons onboard, aground on the entrance banks. The vessel was pulled clear and escorted out of the river into deeper water.

The ALB was tasked to the north of Harwich to meet up with Aldeburgh’s all Weather Lifeboat who was towing the yacht “Templar “ with engine problems towards Harwich. The tow was transferred to the Harwich lifeboat who then proceeded to Shotley Marina.

Launched to a 35ft yacht on a lee shore North of Shotley Spit, the ILB towed the yacht into deeper water. After checking the vessel had not substained any damage and the crew on-board the yacht were safe the ILB returned to station.

30ft Fishing vessel on fire close to the Pye End buoy. Two crew on board the fishing vessel managed to extinguish the fire, but smoke was still present when the ILB arrived on scene. ALB transferred fire extinguishers and the ILB assisted the vessel back to Titchmarsh marina.

56ft yacht dismasted with 8 person on board, 20 miles South East of Harwich. Due to communication problems with the yacht the position was unclear and Walton lifeboat was launched to assist locating the yacht. The ALB use it’s DF equipment to locate the yacht and was taken in tow to Harwich Harbour. The yacht was berthed at the lifeboat station and the crew helped to remove the mast and rigging from the water.

The ALB was launched at the request of Thames Coastguard to an overdue 29ft Dutch yacht with 3 persons onboard sailing from Holland to the England. Several lifeboats around the eastern coast along with a RAF Air Sea rescue Helicopter from Wattisham were involved in a search for the yacht. Sheerness Lifeboat located the yacht North of Whitstable with power failure and all persons on board safe and well.

The yacht with 1 person onboard had reported engine failure and in need of assistance. On arrival the vessel was taken undertow into the River Deben and placed on her moorings.

Report of one person jumped from the Orwell Bridge, initial report from Suffolk Police unsure of casualties condition and ALB was tasked to backup the ILB. The ILB crew located the person alive and conscious on the bridge leg support. The ILB waited for assistance from the ALB crew and the causally was transferred to a waiting ambulance.

20ft sailing yacht left Holland on the 12/6/2007 bound for Harwich and had not arrived. Search conducted by the ILB in Harwich Harbour and the ALB searched an area from Harwich to 30 miles North East of the Harbour. Walton and Aldeburgh lifeboats requested to conduct a search to the north and south of Harwich, RAF helicopter and coastguard spotter plane joined the search. RAF helicopter located the yacht 42 miles north east of Harwich, ALB tasked to the yacht which was taken in tow to Harwich.

Tanker in the Sunk anchorage, launched it’s rescue lifeboat for sea trials with 5 persons on board. During it's sea trials it suffered from engine failure and the ALB was tasked to assistance the rescue lifeboat. When the ALB arrived on scene it located the rescue lifeboat and towed her back to the tanker.

Pilot boat reported smoke from engine room and possible fire. ALB tasked to pilot boat two miles east of the Sunk light vessel. Two commercial vessels stood by while the RAF helicopter from Wattisham winched the three crew off the pilot boat. When the ALB arrived on scene smoke was seen from the engine room vents and smoke damage to the deck & wheel-house. The ALB crew using on-board fire fighting equipment were able to open an engine room hatch and extinguish the remaining burring material in the engine room. The ALB then towed the pilot boat back to Harwich.

Yacht "Garvia 2" off Wrabness aground and taking water, with two elderly persons on-board. The Inshore Lifeboat took two persons off of the yacht whilst she settled at low water. After resting at the Harwich Lifeboat Station the couple were returned to the boat, patched up the leak and floated on the flood tide. The Garvia returned safely to Leavington Marina.

The Speer was taken undertow and berth at Shotley marina for immediate lift out. The Harbour pilot launch “Haven Harrier“ assisted with the rescue.

The Harwich RNLI All weather Lifeboat was launched to a “ Mayday “ distress call from the 20meter – 60 ton Dutch barge “ Martina “ with 3 persons onboard, 52 miles East / North-East off Harwich. On arrival at 18.51 it was established that the barge had sailed from Holland bound for Woodbridge when she developed engine and steering problems. The Martina was taken in tow to Harwich harbour and berth at Ha’penny Pier 7 hours later.

On arrival the lifeboat crew found the yacht had steering and engine problems and due to strong winds it was pushing the yacht towards Felixstowe foreshore. The ALB took the yacht in tow to Harwich Harbour.

The Harwich and Walton RNLI Lifeboats were called by Thames Coastguard to the 35ft yacht “ Faem “ reported sinking in bad weather at “ Long Sand Head “. The Harwich Pilot launch “ Haven Hawk “ who first reported the red flares stood by offering assistance with commutations until the arrival of lifeboats. The yacht with 3 persons onboard had fired red distress flares after losing all communications with the coastguards and lifeboats. All three persons were taken onboard the Walton Lifeboat and conveyed to an awaiting ambulance for medical checks. The yacht eventually broke up in the rough seas.

The fishing vessel “Margaret J “ was standing by as the lifeboat released the yacht. No injuries were reported.

On Sunday 11th November 2007 The Harwich RNLI Inshore Lifeboat was proceeding to Dovercourt Bay to carry out duties for Remembrance Sunday when the crew received an immediate call from Thames Coastguard to proceed to the River “Deben “. To search for a possible missing person from a near by anchored yacht. A subsequent search of the area resulted in the recovery of 1 body from the water, by the ilb crew with a second body being found by coastguard/ Harbourmaster units. Both casualties were landed ashore to awaiting police and ambulance crews.

On New Years Eve The Harwich RNLI Inshore Lifeboat was launched at the request of Thames Coastguard and Suffolk Police to standby on the river “ Orwell “ as an incident on the bridge was causing a major concern. At 20.20 the Lifeboat was stood down and returned to station
