The ILB conducted a search in the River Orwell at the request of Thames Coastguard to assist Suffolk police in the search for a male person believed missing from Saturday a.m. On arrival a search Patten was established on the river by the ILB with local units of the coastguards onshore. After 4 hours and nothing found the inshore lifeboat was released by Thames Coastguard and returned to station.

On request from Thames Coastguard to attend the Orwell Bridge area for the recovery of a body situated at the bridge base. On arrival mobile Coastguards units from Felixstowe were taken onboard to assist with the recovery. Body handed over to Suffolk police.

Both lifeboats launched to 35ft yacht "Panther" with 7 POP, aground and taking water in the river Orwell. Lifeboat crew transferred pump and maintained pumping while the ALB towed the yacht into a local marina. Due to the rate of water entering the yacht, it was lifted immediately.

The Roughs Towers top platform caught alight due to a electrical fire. Harwich off-shore lifeboat was tasked with the report of one person injured in the fire. An RAF rescue helicopter transferred the person to Ipswich hospital, directly from the tower. The Harwich Lifeboat stood by the Roughs Tower until a local fire tug extinguished the fire.

Angling boat with 2 persons onboard taking on water by the Deben Bar. The boat Called “Debora “ was being assisted by a 30 ft cabin cruiser “ Pisces “ with the Harwich Haven pilot launch “Heron “ on route. Before the Inshore Lifeboat could reach the scene .the “ Pisces “ had now rescued both anglers as the “Debora “ had now sunk. It was established by the lifeboat crew that both men were suffering from mild hypothermia and transferred to the all weather lifeboat for passage to Harwich Lifeboat Station

Pilot boat reported engine room fire, by the South Shipwash. On arrival it was discovered there was no engine fire, but just an engine over-heat and the pilot boat still has use of one engine. The ALB escorted the pilot boat back to Harwich.

On arrival a search box was established with the aid of the search and rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham and mobile coastguard unit. Both Harwich Lifeboats were launched to an eyewitness report to Thames Coastguard, of a Light Aircraft ditching in the water approximately 8 miles North East off the “North Ship wash”. The rescue helicopter from RAF Wittisham who was also in the vicinity picked up the pilot and conveyed him to an Ipswich Hospital. Both Harwich Lifeboats were then recalled to station. The light aircraft sunk moments later

Suffolk police requested the ILB to attend at incident were a 22 year old male had entered the water at Stoke Bridge at Ipswich, the male was believed to be in a suicidal state. The ILB crew found the male and hauled him on board the ILB and handed him over to awaiting police and stated that he was cold, exhausted and rescued just in time.

A search for the second persons was carried out ,but he too was found safe.

The ILB was launched to a reported of a kite surfer in trouble off the “ Felixstowe Ferry”. Several reports were made to Thames Coastguard by members of the public, concerned the kite surfer was in grave difficulties. The person was located quickly by the ILB crew and landed back ashore at the Felixstowe ferry.

The ILB was called to the 17ft yacht “Busy Bee “ reported aground on Stone Pier with persons in the water. It was subsequently established that the two persons onboard had been joined in the water by a member of the public who advised them that the lifeboat maroons had been fired and to climb back onboard. He then proceeded back ashore and disappeared. The ILB took the yacht under tow to the lifeboat pontoon where medical assistance was given.
